Badami Cave Temples

Jagannath Temple

Highly revered among Hindus as a prominent pilgrimage, Jagannath Temple attends to throngs of devotees round the year, and a particularly denser crowd at the time of the annual religious festival event called “Rath Yatra” or Chariot festival. The festival involves hauling the three sitting deities on ornately done chariots around the local charming coastal town of Puri, Orissa. Kailash Temple

The Kailash temple, devoted to Lord Shiva, is not only an important Hindu temple, but also the world’s largest monolithic structure and the most elaborate rock-cutting project ever handled. The idol of Lord Shiva inside the temple is 109 feet wide by 164 feet long. The historical importance adds on the tourism significance of the outstanding Kailash temple, as the temple was constructed in the mid 8th century by the King Krishna I (757-775) of the Rashtrakuta dynasty. Just 30 kilometers from Aurangabad in Maharashtra, near Ellora village, sits this one of the most astounding instance of architectural history. The Kailash temple also marks one of the 34 excavations sites at Ellora.

Lepakshi Temple

The elaborately done Lepakshi Temple is one of the popular memorials of the glorious Vijayanagar Empire that once ruled the state of Andhra Pradesh.  Presently patronized by the state government of Andhra, the Lepakshi temple is located in the small village called Lepakshi. The temple is nine miles away in the east of Hindpur in Anantapur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh.The sitting deities in the Lepakshi temple are Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Veerabhadra, which is actually the wrathful form of Lord Shiva only. The fascinating Lepakshi temple is also an attraction among tourists because of the finest of the mural paintings of the Kings of Vijayanagar dynasty being housed in the temple.
